Smallholder Courses

We have decided to concentrate on the Pig Keeping Courses in 2012 and refer our chicken and sheep courses to other smallholders in the area. Once they are up and running there will be sheep keeping, goat keeping and lambing courses held in Chertsey Surrey and chicken, poultry and waterfowl courses held near Worthing in West Sussex.

However we will still run bespoke private courses involving chickens, sheep and/or pigs if required and will keep our manuals up to date should you wish to book a corporate day. This page will be updated accordingly very soon.

Corporate Smallholder Taster Days

As they say "experience leads to innovation"

These taster days are designed to give you an overview of keeping chickens, pigs, sheep and bees on your smallholding. The idea is to give you more insight in to which animals are for you (or not) and which animals would work well on your smallholding in terms of space required and handling facilities.

The days course will just cover the basics and will be very hands-on and  includes complimentary refreshments including lunch and a colour course manual for each delegate to take away outlining their day, and full on-going support when you decide to keep livestock. The days course will run from 9:30am to 4.30/5pm and will be limited to 8 delegates.

We will cover rules and regulations, basic husbandry skills, feeding, animal health such as de-worming,  and other parasite control, biosecurity, hive maintenance and slaughtering protocols for the pigs and sheep. Please remember this is just a taster and will not cover each species in great detail, for more in-depth knowledge please look at our other chicken, sheep and pig courses.

THE COST FOR A CORPORATE DAY FOR UP TO 8 PEOPLE IS £800 WHICH INCLUDES ALL INSTRUCTION, LUNCH, COLOUR MANUAL WITH THE SPECIES OF YOUR CHOICE AND FULL AFTER SUPPORT WHEN YOU DO START SMALLHOLDING.

TO BOOK A CORPORATE DAY JUST SEND US AN EMAIL AT tedfold@hotmail.co.uk REQUESTING MORE DETAILS AND WE WILL WORK OUT A PROGRAMME TO SUIT YOU EXACTLY.

Just wanted to keep in touch and say what a great day we both had last Sunday (4th Sept). It’s really helped us to add some focus on the potential for our very smallholding in comparison to yours.  The food was great. Sam & Rick

Just a quick note to say thank you.  We had a very enjoyable and educational day.  The course gave us a fantastic taste for small holding and has given us a lot to think about. Will & Amy.
